The importance of ceramic tile grouting

From a technical point of view, the choice of the tile jointing is conditioned by the color and type of material on which it is to be applied, as well as by the intended use of the material and the required joint thickness.

The joint also serves as a first level of stress propagation reduction between one tile and the adjacent one, reducing the movements and stresses of the covering, allowing to improve the overall adhesion of the tile, slowing down the passage of water and dissipating vapor.

But ceramic tile jointing also serve a decorative function.

While the trend has always been to conceal the joints between tiles as much as possible, accentuating them is an attractive proposal that will give personality to bathrooms and kitchens.

These vary from 1mm for straight-edged tiles to 5mm, which is usually used in more rustic environments and tiles with irregular edges.

If we are looking for a more chic and minimalist atmosphere, we will opt for a minimum joint of 1 mm, and we will look for a color for the filling, as close as possible to the tone of our tile, to create a uniform vision of the room.

If, on the other hand, we are looking for a more rustic atmosphere, the wider the separation space, the more it will help us to create this effect.
