Decorative PVD It is a surface treatment in which a metallic coating is deposited on a ceramic surface, giving it a thin layer of 0,5 microns of titanium, without producing changes in the structure of its surface.
These coatings allow for metallic finishes with a wide range of colors (silver, gold, copper, violet) with excellent mechanical and chemical properties.
PVD coatings are generated with a reduced waste production rate, replacing more polluting traditional techniques (galvanizing, chrome plating and zinc plating), a fact that has determined their introduction in the decorative sector due to their environmental friendliness.
Furthermore, these coatings exhibit excellent physical and chemical properties, among which we can highlight:
- Unalterable over time, because its oxidation occurs at temperatures above 400 °C.
- Resistance to solar radiation (UV), with no visible effects or loss of color over time, making it potentially usable outdoors if the supporting ceramic is also suitable for outdoor use.
- Corrosion resistance, but without anti-corrosive properties because they are thin-layer coatings.
- Resistance to conventional cleaning products, provided they are solutions with a neutral pH.
- Resistance to hydrochloric acid, acetic acid and citric acid at low concentrations.
